EAA Air Academy 2006

The Arizona Council of EAA Chapters has selected two young people to attend the EAA Air Academy 2006 camp this summer in Oshkosh WI. Both are Young Eagles who flew in AZ during this past school year.

Dominique Z. Jordan is an 8th grade student at Arizona School for the Arts in Phoenix. She will be taking classes in high school studying aviation and mechanics, and plans to pursue a career in the USAF after attending college. She wants to build her own plane to give private flights and instruction, and help with the volunteer flights for other Young Eagles.

Michael Padrick is a student at Boulder Creek High School in Anthem AZ. Since his Young Eagle flight in October 2005, he has “realized how much aviation could change my life”. Michael’s goal is to be accepted into the USAF Academy, plans to earn his private license in the very near future and ultimately hopes to become an aeronautical engineer.

We would like to acknowledge those Arizona-based EAA pilots that donated their Young Eagle Credits toward sending those two lucky young people to camp:

Chapter 228 Falcon Field: George Gunn (14), John Holt (16) also flew Dominique Jordan, Donald McGettigan (26), Richard Yerian (17) = 73Credits

Chapter 538 Deer Valley: Dave Biddle (32), Asa Dean (10), Robert Hurni (12), James Moss (52), Eddie Narmore (24) = 130 Credits

Chapter 776 Sierra Vista: Thomas Collins (10), Dick McColley (58), Roland McDonald (83), Jon Nelson (20), Barney Parker (14), Terry Pierce (87), Leo Scherping (47), Clifford Van Vleet (84), Jim Walden (11) = 414 Credits !!!

Chapter 952 Camp Verde: Ralph Clark (16), Patrick Dufresne (12), Jon Fineman (13), Robert Landers (16), Marvin Manley (15), Robert Martino (17), Jack Merritt (10), Patrick Moore (13) = 112 Credits

Chapter 1217 Scottsdale: No individual credits mailed out, however EAA HQ has 72 Credits on file which will be applied to our two AZ Young Eagles.

Grand Total = 801 Credits. We needed 800. WOW! Thanks A Lot!

EAA Air Academy is an annual event. We will send one or two young people to camp again next year. If you are interested in learning more about this, please contact us.
