PILOTS FLYING IN THE VICINITY OF CASA GRANDE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (CGZ)
DURING THE COPPERSTATE FLY-IN, October 24 through October 26, 2013
The 41st Annual COPPERSTATE Fly-In will be held at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport (CGZ) from Thursday, October 24th through Saturday, October 26th of this year.
COPPERSTATE is expected to generate an unusually high volume of VFR traffic in the vicinity of CGZ. Since this airspace is routinely subject to intensive student training activity, the amount of VFR traffic concentrated in a relatively small area will be extremely high; consequently, pilots are urged to exercise extreme caution when conducting operations in this area.
Due to FAA implementation of a user fee structure to fund air traffic control operations at Special Events, there will NOT be a temporary control tower in operation or any special arrival/departure procedures in effect during the Fly-In. Pilots operating to, from, and in the vicinity of Casa Grande Municipal Airport during this period should follow standard recommended practices for operations at non-towered airports, utilizing CTAF (122.7). Pilots should exercise extreme caution for heavy traffic in the area.
