At past events, pilots conducting local flights during the COPPERSTATE Fly-in were sometimes authorized (by the FAA control tower) to fly a separate traffic pattern from that utilized by transient traffic. Such special handling cannot be provided at this year’s event– all flight operations, including local flights, should be conducted in accordance with standard recommended practices for operations at non-towered airports.
Pilots conducting local operations within the traffic pattern may, upon request, have their flight narrated by COPPERSTATE announcers. If narration is desired, pilots should provide pilot and aircraft information to the announcers well in advance of the flight. To prevent narration scheduling conflicts, pilots may self-schedule such flights at the announcing stand in front of the main exhibit tent.
